Extractions

Unfortunately, not every tooth can be saved. If a tooth has extensive damage or decay, our dentist may determine that it is better to extract (pull) the tooth. Tooth extraction is often our last resort in maintaining your oral health, but if necessary, you can rest assured that Dr. Ramadan and his dental team will provide comfortable, caring treatment.

Our dentist may recommend a tooth extraction for one or more of the following reasons:

  • To prepare the mouth for orthodontia or cosmetic treatment
  • Risk of infection
  • Infection
  • Advanced periodontal disease
  • Advanced tooth decay

Following the extraction of the tooth, Dr. Ramadan will give you specific instructions on how to care for your mouth. It is very important to follow these instructions in order to maintain your oral health. It is fairly normal to experience swelling and discomfort, but this will pass with time.

After a tooth has been extracted, Dr. Ramadan may recommend placing a dental restoration, such as a dental implant or bridge, as part of your overall treatment plan. If you are interested in learning more about your options for maintaining oral health, please call our office soon.
